In 1967 Frieth Parsonage was acquired by the Church
Commissioners and sold off in two lots. White Gates is built on what was
the Parsonage lawn.
The Laurels
The Laurels is an early Victorian house; it was bought and
lived in by Edwin West, co-founder of the West & Collier chair factory (founded
in 1869).
Attached to the rear of this house were two old cottages, now rebuilt,
and incorporated in the main house. For some years in the 1930s these two
cottages were unoccupied, but in 1939 evacuees from London were glad of their
shelter.
