The Orchards, now converted to a house, was built as a
bungalow circa 1934 for Elizabeth Barksfield. She had been a teacher at Frieth
School and knew everybody in the village.
There was no Frieth newsletter in the 1930's so news and
notices needed communication by word of mouth. One Curate who lived at The
Parsonage opposite The Orchards used to say of any news: "Just tell Liz - it will
soon get around!"
