Marlstone, adjacent to The Firm, is bult on the site of a
former bungalow named Murrumburra which had been bult in the 1920s for Mai and
Beatrice West, two daughters of Tom West the former schoolmaster.
Mai had married a Mr Smith, a local boy who emigrated to
Australia, joined the Australian Forces in World War I and came back to fight in
France. He re-met Mai and married her but shortly afterwards was killed. Mai
called the bungalow Murrumburra after the place in Australia where he came from.
the name meant "My Home" in Aborigine.
