Rivendell, Summerhill and all the houses and bungalows in
Haylesfield were built on a meadow of that name that had a footpath running
through it.

Hayles or halse means 'a ridge' or 'neck of land between
valleys' and this is apparent as the land drops away on either side.

The bungalows on the west side adjoining the footpath were
built between the two wars by Archibald (Jacker) Collier, whilst the rest were
built from 1960 onwards.
